SPEAR

SPEAR

SPEAR is a local charity that has been working with homeless people in and around Richmond for more than 30 years, helping them to find secure accommodation and work towards a positive future.

Its work began in 1986 after two rough sleepers died sleeping on Richmond riverside. SPEAR began with a temporary night shelter and now has a variety of kinds of accommodation, including its main hostel in Kew Road, Richmond, and a women-only hostel, which opened in 2014.

Homelessness is seldom just about accommodation and SPEAR has also developed a range of support services to help people get their lives back on track.

“Since you found me and scraped me off my bench you have helped me put my life back together. I feel secure and hopeful for the future.”
